Students survived for many years without a phone to their ear...distracting them even further from their educations. Most of us do not need to call home every hour or call our buddies at other schools...more distractions! Schools have been dealing with text-messaging/cheating all over the country. It may fix some of their mistakes, however, some are so erroneous that they do not even resemble a likely correction. This style of writing is also hard to correct because there is hardly any consistency in the way teachers deal with it in the way that they grade.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10653377.post-1169485107911792842007-01-22T11:58:00.000-05:002007-01-22T11:58:00.000-05:00Having the computers set to correct as the kids ty...Having the computers set to correct as the kids type their papers also contributes to their inability to spell, use capitals and punctuation correctly. They have no need to know how to do it right because the computer will fix their mistakes. What are teachers doing to combat this?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10653377.post-1169411603252691362007-01-21T15:33:00.000-05:002007-01-21T15:33:00.000-05:00I've been seeing the teenage cutesy code in my col...I've been seeing the teenage cutesy code in my college writing classes, as well. I had to make an actual rule against using it, and some of the students were astounded to discover that it wasn't 'proper' writing.
