Is anyone else shocked by the discrepency between males & females? That's unfortunate.
Yes, I was very surprised by the wide gap. I was under the impression that the gender gap was closing some.
However, one explanation could be that this chart is not a career to career match. In other words, the pool of all women could be more likely to have college degrees in a variety professions that do not pay higher wages for male or females which would skew the results.
I would certainly hope that in a career to career match - two similar doctors, nurses, or engineers - one female and one male - would be getting similar wages.
