It's not on the test...

I have appreciated the comments on the previous blog post regarding how to motivate and engage students. With that in mind, I thought you might enjoy this tongue-in-cheek song.

Tongue in cheek?

That you create the prompt shows that you are burnt out and aren't prepared to lead in today's educational environment.

A focus on the test does not preclude instruction in other areas or a lack of teaching kids to think. What's on the test?

Reading. And we can teach reading skills in science and social studies and music and anywhere else. And reading is all about thinking critically.

Writing. How appropriate to ask students to express their thoughts in writing and communicate effectively. And yes, in science, math, social studies, home ec, building trades, English, and Spanish...and anything else.

Duh!
