Miscellaneous reminders

Just a reminder that you can get your information on snow delays and cancellations first here on The Wawascene.

Here is the weather report for the Syracuse area. (Don't get your hopes up!! :-)

Friday Funnies are tomorrow. I have some cued up but don't forget to e-mail me (e-mail link is on the sidebar) if you have a funny story about kids.

Parents out there - you have some funny ones too! Send them in. I can give you credit or keep it anonymous - your choice.

It's all about the kids. Charts and graphs look pretty and we are encouraged when the little lines go in the right directions - but remember it's all about the kids.

Our neighbor to the east, West Noble, called their delay on Thursday evening. It would be handy for some parents to know and plan the evening before, especially when it seems the conditions early in the morning will not yet be clear.

I couldn't agree more. Why the wait? I think its pretty obvious Kosciusko county DOT won't have the roads cleared especially since they have called their plows in given the low visibility and heavy snow. And when does the wx channel ever have a clue as to what the wx is going to do. Someone should change that weather link to the National Weather Service office's real forecast. Who better given they are just up the road.

It would seem that looking out the window this evening would eliminate the need for you to go out at 4:00 in the morning to see if the roads are bad enough to warrant a 2 hour delay!

Yet again Wawasee Schools will be the last to delay and the last to close IF they do anything at all. They seem to think the roads will miraculously clear by 6 a.m. Then when someone ends up in a ditch they'll decide to delay.
It amazes me how many times we hear the teachers telling the students to "Be Prepared" yet the admin. waits until the last minute to do anything about delaying as if it's some big hush-hush secret.
I for one as a parent will not be sending my child at the usual time. I'm calling my own delay and if the roads are still bad at 8 a.m. I'll call my own closing.
Here's the local weather site

Warsaw, Whitco, West Noble, Fairfield plus numerous others already have 2-hour delays at 9 p.m. Thursday evening. Why wait? To see how many hits your blog site gets?
