Making sense of it all..

I guess you can't really. My stomach turns over reading what happened in the little Amish School in Pennsylvania.

Article here for those who haven't seen it over and over.

It is so scary! Makes you think how it could just happen to OUR children in OUR schools!!!! I don't think our schools are gun secure at all.

It is so very scary to drop my son off at school! Anyone could just walk right into the building and do God only knows what...and we are powerless to do anything about it! I only hope all these recent school shootings make the school administrators realize what they need to do to make things safer fro our kids.

It is so sad.:( My prayers go out to the families.
I agree with the others that it is scary to think our kids are targets, even at school anymore. I know there is no way to have total control over what some crazies may do. It's sad to me that Bush is focusing so much on terrorists, when we have evil people right here who are Americans. Maybe a little more attention needs to be focused on protecting us from our own people.:(

I have removed an anonymous comment that was posted above even though it had some very valid points about school safety. I copied the points and e-mailed them to the principals.

I am not offended by the information or trying to avoid it. I just thought a phone call with the specifics to either the principal or myself would be better.

We have probably all seen enough of the "copycat" things going on as a result of seeing and reading things in the media.

Thank you for your observations.

I am so happy you removed the above blog. I read the blog yesterday and was very upset someone would put that on the blog.

I didn't post the removed entry to upset people. But to show our central office that there are gaps in safety. My child watched the news with me last night and asked what they should do if something happened in their school. I told my child to ask at school because I have no idea what plans the schools have. And apparently the students have not practiced a lockdown as they do fire drills and tornado drills.
We can all stick our heads in the sand or we can face facts and learn to take precautions. I'm glad my entry was read and forwarded to the proper people since discussions about some of the points obviously got me no where. And I guess I'll be calling about concerns my child brought to my attention last night too.
