The Wawascene in the national blogosphere again

If you haven't been checking out The Education Wonks blog site every week, don't forget to do so. It is one of the best national blog sites for a variety of educational news around the country.

I give Mike the free plug because he cross linked to The Wawascene today in a reference to Indiana's behind the scenes proposal to link ISTEP to teacher incentive pay.

Please don't take offense, but most of us do not have time to surf the net and access great web sites. We are teaching full time and trying to keep our heads above water.

I teach, and am barely keeping my head above water, however seeing that education is shaped by the context of the world around us, and seeing as how we teachers always complain when something new catches us off guard, I think we have the responsibility to not stick our head in the sand, but rather to stay informed.

Who knows maybe this teacher will learn something. Not to mention that being so consumed in your career that you cannot break for a few minutes isn't healthy.

Besides, hopefully you are using the web to enhance your curriculum!

It might be interesting for you to know that the "owner" and "moderator" of The Education Wonks blog site is a full time practicing teacher with a family. I have traded e-mails and even phone calls with him and I have been impressed with his desire to make a positive impact on public education. In his own humble way, he still has trouble adjusting to the fact that his little contribution to the profession has become a national focus.

He keeps his head above water like we all do...paddling like mad!!!!!

I figure if he can manage to post it with all he has going on, I can find time to read it!
