I blew it.

As many commenters have pointed out, some politely and some not so politely - there should have been at least a two-hour delay today without any question. Yesterday we could have gone without one and not much would have been said.

I made a bad call no matter how you look at it.

Excuse me sir, but did you even look out your window. You put the lives of every student, teacher, and parent in jeopardy, and respond with an "I blew it", how about next time you just do the job you are paid so well to do.

Anonymous said...

I agree with the poster above. I Blew It wouldn't be enough for me if one of my kids gets hurt or worse killed. This school needs to take better precautions to protect our kids.

Anonymous said...

I can't believe some of these posters audacity... It's the parents responsibility to make the ultimate call not to put your kids in danger. If you felt it was that bad keep your kids home.

By the way you do live in Indiana and it does snow here.

Anonymous said...

I don't have a child in the district. I have a family memeber in the district. And she can't just stay home becuase it is bad outside.

Don't pretend that it wasn't bad enough for at the very least a delay out there. Snow happens, and that is why there is a delay and cancellation system in place...talk about audacity...

Anonymous said...

I do appreciate the fact that you will own up to your mistake. Thanks!

Anonymous said...

It's bad enough on a day like this having to worry about my daughter driving to school (she leaves during the school day and cannot take the bus), but this morning, I left early for work while it was still dark. With the snow coming down and the wind blowing more snow I could not see a group of 4 or 5 kids standing right at the edge of the road waiting on the bus until I was on them. I was only going 30, but if I would have lost control on the ice, I would have hit everyone of them! Please think about that on a morning like this the next time. This was high school and middle school students who should know better than to stand that close to the road.

Anonymous said...

I appreciate that you take responsibility for your mistake. We are all human. I am glad that I don't have to make that call. I remember going to school in worse conditions than this. Thank you for what you do and being able to recognize a mistake.

Anonymous said...

Yes it's the parents responsibility, BUT if we were to keep our kids home cause the ADMIN didn't call a delay or cancel school, WE as parents would be the ones to get in trouble for not sending our kids to school without just cause. Just cause the roads are bad isn't going to cut it with ADMIN or the Cops. Unless you can afford to finance something in the school district or know the right people to keep outta trouble for it.

Anonymous said...

Will we send students home early, after lunch??

lisa g. said...

Chin up Mr. Stock. There are situations I wish I'd handled differently all the time.

The snow is beautiful, and the kids will be fine.

Anonymous said...

The kids will be fine should we hold you to that

Anonymous said...

redeem yourself. the weather is only going to get worse, send the kids home.

Anonymous said...

It takes a lot on anyones part to make any type of a mistake. That's what this was, a mistake and poor judgement...and admitted to. As one stated, we do live in Indiana, weather changes quickly. There is so much more to be considered here than just looking out a window, there is some relying on what the news says is going to happen too. Put your kids on the bus if you are that worried, that is what they are for. You're doing a great job. (Although I still would like to see something addressed about the pick up/drop off at NWES and busses going in the out!)

Anonymous said...

Good question, are they going to let the kids out early? Mr. Stock look out your window, what do you see, more and more snow, duh!

Anonymous said...

sorry, it takes a lot on anyone to ADMIT to a mistake...

Anonymous said...

I personally would have been happy with just a delay. So far the kids haven't had to make up any days. Its the pits when they have to have snow make up days. Like its the kids fault for the weather, I think not.

Anonymous said...

Cancel now! Have you looked outside in the past 15 minutes? Send them home now before it gets any worse!
"I blew it" You posted that at 5:29 am. You couldn't have made the decision at that moment to change your mind?
I get that everyone makes mistakes. But do something to right the wrong!

Anonymous said...

I can't believe you say you posted this at 5:29 a.m. I got up and check this blog at 6:30 and there was nothing on there for today at all. It was on a lot later.

I live in Syracuse, my time is the same time as yours.

Is your watch set right? I don't think so.

Anonymous said...

The time is off on his site. I'd say that was posted more like 8:30 or 9.

Anonymous said...

Part of owning up to mistakes is trying to minimize the consequences for those mistakes. How about an early release? With the blowing and drifting, it is only going to get worse...At least think about it...I appreciate you acknowledgement of the mistake, but we have already had one student airlifted to a hospital this year and a head on crash last week...Do really need any more???

Anonymous said...

I can't believe the bus drivers haven't said anything. They are always on their radios, acting like God. They are the ones who will have your children lives in the their hands whatever time they let them out of schoo.

All I have to say is PRAY!!!!

Anonymous said...

It says it was posted at 5:29 am on my computer. And yes my watch is set to the right time, but thanks for your concern.

Anonymous said...

I just talked to the vice princ at Milford, and he says he hasn't heard of any talk of releasing the kids early at this point and time. What's it going to take to get to you that the parents aren't happy about this situation. Most of the area schools around us closed or delayed and our kids are in classes??? Let's get a reality check here please!!!

Anonymous said...

I believe the kids should be sent home. For their own safety. The weather is just going to get worse. How many more bus accidents are there going to be?

Anonymous said...

To err is human, to forgive divine.

Anonymous said...

WOW!! You all are tough! I'd hate to be your spouse and try to please you!

Anonymous said...

I for one think this is the right choice. Are you going to work today?

I am really proud that we have a leader who is willing to publically make a statement about his choices. Then allow the public to communicate their feelings.

It appears all those who have spoken harshly do not consider that Mr. Stock really thinks hard and is emotionally attached to his decisions.

It is easy to be anonymous and speak harshly. I am guessing most of you would never speak this way to Mr. Stock in person.

Anonymous said...

Im sure we all forgive but will not forget if someone is hurt

Anonymous said...

Are you going to respond?????????

Anonymous said...

Boy are you sadly mistaken. I have and trust me, would again talk to harsh face to face with poor Mr. Stock. He is no different than you are I but he thinks he is. Wake up! You don't know the people in this school system like you think you do!

Anonymous said...

The wind is supposed to blow all day...snow and blowing snow advisory until 1 am...some state plow drivers were actually told to get off the road.

STATE SNOW DRIVERS!!!!

Anonymous said...

mistakes are made all the time its part of life. But there is always a way to make it right.....

Anonymous said...

You should send the students home look at all the snow the roads are getting slicker.. plus look at all the schools that canceled! the students should be sent home

Anonymous said...

The kids will probably stay at school rest of the day, then tomorrow they will probably cancel and the roads will be better. This has happened before. Same old, same old, its Wawasee duhhhhhhhh

Anonymous said...

You managed to fix the time on the blog posting, could you now fix the other problem by sending the kids home?
Thanks.

Anonymous said...

Mr Stock, As one of your bus drivers, I believe you made a good call. It was fine driving this a.m. when I left on the bus. It did get alittle slick as the route went on, but you couldn't have known it was going to happen that way. Just like fog, it's clear when you leave the house but it can creep in as you're driving. All I know is if it does get worse, I take it slower because as you know safety is the first concern as a bus driver no matter how late they may get to school!
You people don't have much faith in your bus drivers do you!!! That offends me.

Steve Breeden said...

First of all, anyone who is mistake free, keep posting. If you have made a mistake then you might take that into consideration before blasting someone else.

Secondly, I'd think you people would have better things to do with your time. Apparently, most of you are stay home moms, so bake some cookies or watch Oprah or find something positive to occupy your time.

Lastly, If you aren't man or woman enough to post your name. Then you have no business jumping anyone and then hiding behind the computer anonymously.

Anonymous said...

It didn't look that bad when my kids were getting on the bus this morning. When your kids get out into the workforce, are you going to give them a pass on going to work because it's snowing? Their employers won't. Keep your chin up Dr. Stock, it's not an easy call.

Anonymous said...

It is not that we dont trust the bus drivers its why would we want our children out if we dont think its safe

Anonymous said...

why do you think my kids don't ride the bus.

Get over it, the sun is shining. Get a grip!

Anonymous said...

It was pretty bad out this morning...I don't see how anyone could say that it got worse as the morning went on and it wasn't bad at first! It doesn't matter how good of a driver you are, bus or car...accidents are caused by other drivers, too, not just yourself! Also, accidents can happen to anyone...not just those who drive badly! School should've been cancelled today and at the very least had a two-hour delay!

Anonymous said...

Hey, steve, you a stay at home mom? Apparently you have nothing better to do with your time.

Hi kettle, my name is pot...

Nevermind the comments you made about stay at home moms being out of line.

Putting too much baking soda is one type of mistake, sending hundreds of children and employees to work when it may not be in their best interest is wholly another.

Better get back to your important life STEVE, can't believe you had time to say anything what with the busy life you must lead and all to come down here and bash stay at home moms.

Anonymous said...

So worried about your kids safety?! Many are trying to force Stock to send the kids home NOW, truly is that the answer??? Send home out on the roads now inexperienced drivers? (Meaning our new driving students that parents allowed to drive in this in the first place rather than putting them on a safe bus or taking them themselves!) Keep the kids at school, let the crews get out and clear these roads and they'll get home safer. Once again, this should fall back to the parents...teaching them properly how to drive on this stuff that we will always get, make a good choice to hop on a bus or to have a parent take them in.

Anonymous said...

Steve, I think that was a very hateful post toward SAHM's...you can't possibly know that everyone on here is female and a SAHM! Some of us maybe don't want to take the time to become a member in order to use our names on here!

Anonymous said...

Hey, Steve, bite me! I'm a stay at home mom, are you jealous?

We stay at home moms do far more than your sorry butt ever has.

Deal with it!

Anonymous said...

If you are that worried about your inexperienced kids driving then go pick them up yourself!

It's not just teenagers we need to be concerned about! I have an elementary student in Milford...I heard plows out on the town roads this morning yet when I went out to start up my van a few minutes later it was like they hadn't even done anything at all!

I wonder how many buses, students, faculty were late this morning...

BTW, my name is Stacia E. and I am a SAHM!

Anonymous said...

So you are saying that drivers training done at the school is worthless. They don't have drivers ed in the winter time for the instructors to teach students to drive in the snow. Blame the parents. Thats right, no said you have to get your kid a car.

I guess i won't be sending my kids to drivers ed when the time comes, I'll do it my self. They'd learn .

Anonymous said...

Get off it people Mr Stock is doing a geat job and think about how many times you made excuses and lied to stay home from work and prayed for a snowy day to stay home when you really could of made it. These children don't really care come on now go back to when you were a kind in school, Did you ever play "HOOKEY" your are making a bigger deal out of it than needs to me made. How many miles did you have to walk to school and isn't it amazing how those miles have grown over the years. Get over your self all you want is the schools to be baby sitters anyway if you really get down to it so go outside and make angle wings and be a kid again SMILE AND BE HAPPY

Anonymous said...

Mr. Stock- It is understandable, mistakes happen..Please, next time be a little more aware of how the weather may possibly change and endanger the students and everyone out there. Thank you for at least apologizing! Hopefully you allow for the students and staff to be released home early because the news updates on weather suggest a worsen of the weather. Thank-you

Anonymous said...

Are you going to start bashing babysitters now, just because the school babysits for the teenagers who aren't bright enough not to be having kids, doesn't mean thats why I send my kids to school. I would much rather them be home schooled to be perfectly honest.

Anonymous said...

I'm sure glad that I don't have to make the decisions that you have to, Mr. Stock.

To those of you who think that the students should be sent home early.....what about those of us who work.... not everyone can just leave work mid-day. Maybe today's call should have been different......but They're there....leave them there....

As for school delays.....if they were really delays, wouldn't the kids stay at school until 5:00........instead they have shorter days......maybe someone should look in to that. Then we wouldn't have so many parents (and kids) wanting delays!

Anonymous said...

I am home today with a sick kid, the other I sent to school. This has to be better than any talk show, even Jerry Springer! I can't believe the drama. If you do not have any faith in Dr. Stock, bus drivers or the school system, why not HOME SCHOOL!

Anonymous said...

It's funny if you could track all the "SEND THEM HOME EARLY" post they are more than likely coming from teachers dest top computers !!!

Anonymous said...

ROFL...That is so hilarious!

Steve said...

Frankly, I don't care if you're a stay at home mom or dad. My point is if you don't want to take the time to even put your name here, then chances are you don't take the time to be on the PTA or go to school board meetings. If this post weren't available, you all might have to, God forbid, actually get involved in some way. I have the feeling 99% would not show up for a meeting where they had to discuss it face to face.

Anonymous said...

Steve, it's obvious that you don't really care...I have been involved with the PTA, frankly I don't get the feeling that "Non-office holding" members are wanted in that little group! I have been available to help out whenever it was needed at various functions and such and in the classroom.

BTW, this is why we have a blogspot isn't it? So we can speak our minds about the topics posted and not have to go out to meetings and such? What does it matter if we say it on here or in a group? It doesn't change the way we feel!

I do think that Dr. Stock is doing a good job, though today was definitely a bad call.

Anonymous said...

It amazing that all the schools around us are closed or closing early. As a parent of a former student and a present student there have been many times that I questioned the intelligence of the person that makes the decision to delay or close Wawasee. (I was just informed that the students are going to be let out at 12:55) I to have made the choice to keep my kids home because of the weather and the danger of riding the bus on icy or snow covered roads. On one occasion when I did let my daughter ride the bus (#19) slid into the ditch because it could not stop at a 4-way stop. My daughter also would have been on the bus (#16) the other day if she had not had a doctors appointment. But back to my main point, on the days that I kept my children home the school counted their absences as "unexcused" I think that is truly unfair to the student since they are not the adult and cannot make the decision on their own.

First of all steve,
most of us have access to computers who are actually at work...
secondly, Oprah doesn't come on until four
and lastly, if you watched Oprah, you would know that cookies make you fat.
so let me ask... just where are you? are you at home or are you at work?

Anonymous said...

Firstly I want to say thanks to Mr. Stock for sending us home. Second, I want to tell Steve and Mr. Stock not to worry about all the hateful PMS comments flying around in this blog. Last but not least, the blog does exist for you to post your concerns-not to be a jerk.

In case anyone is interested, I was at Milford school waiting to pick up my kids and I had the radio on that new Warsaw station, they just happened to say that a semi jackknifed on 15 Milford, didn't catch if it was North or South, just be careful when going out, some areas are worse than others. Personally the road I took to Milford was not too bad. Better than first thing this morning. SAHM

Rosa said...

Exuse you STEVE, Excuse you... I was outraged at your snide and vicious attack on the housewives of Syracuse! How many cupcakes must grow stale and uneaten as children lie in commas? How many specials must Oprah conduct on ice victims until your thirst for carnage is quenched? We don't all share your dream of an icy apocolypse!

Anonymous said...

Hey Steve, I believe there isn't one sahm who would give you the time of day, let alone a cookie or cupcake.

You do not have any knowledge of what sahm do, unless you are one, I feel sorry for your wife, that is if you have one.

With your attitude towards sahm, that is highly unlikely, ever!

Tammy J said...

I appreciate the job that you all do. But sending the kids home early was not the best choice... The roads don't seem any worse then this morning. Sending them home early blind to us was not a good one either. Some of us at work do not have access to a TV or a radio. Or so the school told me that is the way we were notified. I have been watching channel 22 and still no mention of the closing??? I live in a area with alot of kids. I have 5 of them at my house now because they had no way to get in and no one was home. Maybe we can come up with a better solution for this. The parents are grateful I was able to leave work. And provide shelter for the little ones... Just a big concern to address.. thanks

Anonymous said...

wydeyI am a bus driver! It was fine this morning to drive. Cold yes. To the person who commented on the bus accident. You must not have your facts straight cause the accident last week was the other drivers fault and yet to boot on a clear day!!!! So you see things can happen on good days too!! And yes the roads weren't bad enough to cancel or call a delay when I left my driveway this morning. The snow didn't start till halfway thru the bus route!!! The kids got to school on time too!

Anonymous said...

I saw the anouncement of letting school out around 11:30 on Channel 22. You sure you had the right channel??

Local DJ said...

The reason your not seeing any mention of the school closing on WSBT 22 or any of the other T.V. and radio outlets are because they are trying to keep up-to date with all the closings that are coming in. Since Wawasee closed at 1 there is no need to have the closing displayed any more.

Anonymous said...

I am a staff member at Wawasee, and I am a little embarrassed by some of the comments. Today was a stressful day for many, I'm sure. Frustrated or not, we should still act as a civilized community. This blog is linked from our corporation's website for all to see. While it is an excellent tool to stay on top of issues that affect our community and to vent when need be, it is not your everyday chat room. Let's come back to reality and deal with the issues at hand. We can do so while being mature and respectful, and we should. Here's to hoping this winter passes quickly! God bless!

Anonymous said...

Amen to that

Anonymous said...

Some of these comments were absolutly out of line and just plain ignorant. While there are many things about our school system and our administraters I don't like or agree with, this is one thing that is hard to place the blame on anyone. If anyone out there has a crystal ball they can see into the future with (30 minutes would be fine) let me know where I can get one please. I for one am impressed with Mr Stock for actually sending the children home early. I remember in former years that would not have happened. I feel that when it comes to our children we should always ere on the side of caution.

Anonymous said...

Nothing like a little blowing snow to get the community excited.

Dr. Stock has always been conservative with school delays. I think that he should make sure that his snow review route included going north on 300E. This might have helped this morning because many of the main roads were not bad at 6:00 to 6;45. A review of the procedure is in order. If in doubt, what is the problem with a 2 hour delay. Maybe he should also include a review of the surrounding school systems.

Dr. Stock is doing a good job but a review of this pocedure is in order and should be discussed at the board level because this is not the first occasion where a questionable decision has been made regarding delaying schools.

Anonymous said...

I am rediculously embarrased of all the people who commented inappropriately on this site. FYI, most of the teachers and administrators had NO WAY TO POST ON THIS SITE BECAUSE SERVERS WERE DOWN and they were all busy TEACHING...what a novel idea. How inappropriate of you. No wonder we have the problems we have with students....look what their guardians are teaching them by example...be judgemental and rude as long as you're not the one in the hot seat. How cowardly. I don't remember Dr. Stock asking for you to make the call this morning...that's why HE'S THE BOSS. GREAT JOB, DOC STOCK! KEEP IT UP!

Anonymous said...

You all make me sick. I can't believe I actually send my children the Wawasee Community Schools. When its the teachers complaining, the school will do everything and anything for them, but the parents complain, and all
heck breaks loose.

There has to be something better than this people.

Anonymous said...

All of you people who posted stuff against Dr. Stock need to get a life. Dr. Stock is an awesome guy. I've known him all my life. All of you "Christians" out there who posted something judgmental or just plan uncalled for on here better be asking for forgiveness because if i'm not mistaken being judgemental is a sin and the price for sin is death. So you better be asking for God's forgiveness right about now. I was at school today. Dont get me wrong the roads were dangerous, but as has been pointed out by many, Dr. Stock made a mistake Hes human isnt he? We all make mistakes thats why Jesus died for us. I pray that Dr. Stock will make the right decision tomorrow morning and won't make a mistake because of all the pressure you inconsiderate people out there who seem to have never made mistakes before have put on him. Kudos to you for never making a huge mistake but I know i've made mistakes and it takes a lot of guts to own up to them. Thank you so much Dr. Stock. Good luck the rest of the winter on making ur calls. I'll be praying for you and the decisions you have to make everyday.

Anonymous said...

The students at school today were ecstatic when we got released early but at the same time i heard tons of comments about how happy kids were that we had to go to school and get released early instead of having to make it up later. I know tons of students who were happy about the decisions of today after we were told we were getting out early. I LOVE 2 hour delays but Dr. Stock is just doing his job. Nobody is perfect. Give him a break and get off his back. If you are going to comment on here at least TRY not to be jerks. I know thats hard for some of you but you can at least put some effort into it. Thanks again Dr. Stock. Somebody has to do your job and with this pressure I'm deffinetely glad its not me.

Anonymous said...

I think we should all give dr. stock a break. just think if you were the one making the decisions and made the wrong one. you would hope people would be compassionate and not be acting like this. everyone makes mistakes get over it.

Anonymous said...

Excuse me if you think I'm being judgemental, Dr. Mark Stock is just at judgemental as myself, he has judged me in the past because I am a single parent with 2 kids.
I least on not on welfare, food stamps, I don't take my kids to teen parents suceeding for free babysitting, I was 30 years old when I had my first kid. Everyone in the school district is judgement, who do you think you are kidding. We just don't fit in your private little group. Tough

Anonymous said...

Yes everyone makes mistakes, and this was a mistake. Corrected the only way he could. Fine. It still doesn't change the fact that the delay/closing proceedures need to be revisited. I don't think anyone drives out by the Enchanted Hills area to see just how bad the roads get out here. We don't get county or state plows through here, we have to contract a company. The only roads near us that get state and county plows is the County Line road. Just a thought....

Anonymous said...

I don't buy all the teachers weren't on this site due to the servers being down, that is your excuse everytime, if the servers are down as much as what you say, maybe better techs are needed.
Just a suggestion. Happens more times than it should.

Thats right stick up for teachers, down with the parents, if it weren't for parents, you wouldn't have teaching jobs

who is this Steve Breeden that is bashing SAHM? He is rude and I just don't like his attitude. Hopefully he isn't with the school, if so, parents beware!

Maybe they just need to get better teachers, and different administration!

Turth hurts, doesn't it!

Anonymous said...

I agree with STEVE! Get a life!
I like Dr. Stock and think he is wise. I also like delays :)

Anonymous said...

Good respond to the person about getting new teachers and admin. I really like that one. Your right, TRUTH does hurt.

Anonymous said...

Great when the kids are to have a half day (2 hrs. 45 min) and they have a 2 hr delay, you probably like it even better because then they go for $hrs and 45 min. They don't even know how long a early release day is! duhhhhhhhhhhh!

Anonymous said...

If the kids are scheduled for a half day and road conditions don't allow for them to go on time and a delay is called, well they prolly wouldn't bother with a delay they'd just cancel. Think about it....talk about DUH

Anonymous said...

Thats right they would probably just cancel then they have their snow make up days to make up. How stupid, blame it on the kids because of snow , and make them go some other time. Talk about dumb!
Snow make up days are really dumb! Like all the kids are actually going to go, I think not. I don't think any school has ever had "every" student at school on day. At least one student misses a day each week.

Anonymous said...

Ahem... as a student at WHS I wish you would all just shutup. It isn't appropriate to stereotype those who comment on this blog or to assume that any specific group are the ones commenting. Everyone has a right to post a comment but I do find it sad that so many people have nothing better to do than argue. There is no need to continue bickering about what happened this morning so please move on. As far as the person above who thought it was appropriate to bring her religious beliefs into this, get a life. If we desired to be preached at we would go to church, the very fact you posted the comment you did was a bit judgemental in my opinion. It is not your right to judge other's behavior is what you were saying but did it occur to you that it was precisely what you were doing?? Anyways I wish to inform you on behalf of students that most of us are not stupid and wanted a delay this morning for genuine safety reasons. It is a bit sad that everyone is so stereotypical and judgemental. I mean no offense to anyone but I do wish that all the "adults" could just grow up! As far as who is to blame for the danger myself and my peers were put in to travel to school this morning, I blame Dr. Stock fully. I am in no way defending his decisions and personally found them to be ridiculous. It just occurs to me that perhaps more than 12 hours later it may be time to get over it and wait for the next time Dr. Stock screws up, I assure you it probably won't be long.

Anonymous said...

First of all, who brought up Christianity? Oh. No one. Not everyone in this area is a Christian and it was just as "judgmental" of you to assume that we all are.

Secondly, why shouldn't we criticize Dr. Stock? Yes, we all make mistakes, but how many of us have made mistakes that put the lives of hundreds of people in jeopardy? Chances are, we have not. Dr. Stock seems to hold himself to a higher standard above us all, so why shouldn't we expect him to keep up to his high standard?

Anonymous said...

To the High School Student, you are no different than we are, we are all kids at heart. Some are just wiser than others.

You are right, its done, we just need to wait until next time.

Thanks

Anonymous said...

I totally agree with the WHS student on their comment. This is getting completely out of hand. What we should be discussing here are more ideas and better ways to decide delays and closings. Not bashing one an other over childis and trivial things. Start tossing some ideas into the ring folks. Like certain parents, bus drivers, teachers, etc that can be phoned to comment on road conditions in their area of the school district.

Anonymous said...

Thats exactly what they have been doing and it seems like it isn't working.

Anonymous said...

Yes, I do think that some of the comments have gotten out of hand. What role do the teachers play in this? Why are we criticizing them?

However, I do enjoy reading these comments. It is about time that people tried to knock Dr. Stock off of his high horse.

Anonymous said...

I was the parent that made the comment that my daughter would have been on bus #16 when the accident happened. I guess I needed to make my point more clear. What I was trying to say was, look what can happen even when the weather is not a factor. Then you add the weather in and you still are suppose to have the same feeling about your child being safe? Driving around all the lakes that we have in this school district is hazardous enough with all the hills and curves. Keep that in mind when we get the next heavy snowfall and the wind is blowing 20 mph.

Anonymous said...

It isn't right that if we parents feel we shouldn't send out kids to school because of the weather, it is not an excused absence. Maybe we should put our kids in South Bend Schools. They excuse the students if the parents feel the roads are too bad to be on them, better than us.

Have you paid attention to the news? They have a snow and blowing advisory out until 1.a.m in Kosciusko County.

What we need to do is forget this mornings mishap and look to the future. South County Line Road was drifted 8" at 11:10 and still blowing. Even though the NWS has canceled the Advisory that was in effect the drifts are still bad and county crews wont be out until 4am. All I can say is just hope Dr. Stock and the Admin make the right call tomorrow morning.

Wawasee has the same policy that South Bend Community Schools has. Its a state wide policy that if parents feel their children wouldn't be safe going to school on snowy days, it IS and excused absence.

channel 22 is still showing the snow and blowing advisory, maybe they meant the blowing going on in here.

Since when does Wawasee have the same rules as South Bend?

You haven't been paying attention to this blog today, have you. Go back and read some other peoples opinions.

My weather program on my computer (weather bug) is still showing the alert for snow and blowing snow advisory. Granted all weather isn't easy to predict, but they must know a little something.

South Bend had school just as Wawasee did. If you have been paying to any of the news outlets, every school states that is in fact the policy. I'm not as dumb as you think I am

Excuse me, did you see me type that you are dumb, I think not, DO NOT put words down I DID NOT SAY!

A friend told me to check out this blog, it's making laugh so hard, didn't know this was a funny place to be.

Thanks to everyone for all the good laughs, I really needed this.
It made my day. Everyone have a wonderful night.

This blog is getting to be a soap opera, "On the next episode of Days of Our Lives."

Is it just me or does it seem odd that WHS got out at 12:55 exactly 5 hours after school started, and 2 hours and 3 minutes from the end of school. My opinion is that Wawasee let out at 12:55 to cover for the 2hrs they should have given at the beginning of the day. All about reputation.

Give the guy a break! I have made so bad calls in my life, as I sure all of you have also. But I do not call the no delay on Mr. Stock's part a mistake. I was out yesterday, drove from Syracuse to Milford on the back country roads, they were not that bad at 7:00AM. If you all think you could do a better job, why don't you get up at 4-5:00go over and help him make that call, I'm sure he would appreciate the help.If you all were so concerned about the saftey of your children, you should have driven them to school yourselves or just kept them at home. If you really cherished the saftey of your children, then the "UNEXCUSED ABSENCE" would have made no difference in this situtation. In all reality, if he would have closed school or even with the delay, how many of the students really went home and stayed there. My guess would be 90% of the high school students did not, mine being one of them. Even the middle school students were running around town. So yes, tell me where would they have been safer. Your doing a fine job Mr. Stock, don't let these ruthless people get under your skin!

Only if I get paid the same amount butthead. Its his job, thats what he is paid for not mine! Duhhhhhhh

I have nothing to do with the wawasee school district. Let me say that first. I read this on the advice of a friend. But I am going to make this very clear.

Every single one of you who attacked the teachers needs to slapped in your face. PERIOD.

You sit there and act self rightcheous because is serves your purpose. Let me let you in on a little secret. Teachers don't have one ounce of power in their classrooms anymore. And that is because of parents. Not all parents, but the ones that just can't deal with their kid not being perfect. They have sued their way to stupidity. Now teachers are at the mercy of overbearing parents with no idea how to raise children. I AM NOT SAYING THAT IS ALL PARENTS, THERE ARE MANY FINE PARENTS OUT THERE.

But also be aware there are many that should have been sterilized. And they have ruined it for everyone else. So the next time you want to criticize teachers, how about you ask yourself when the last time you helped your kid with their homework was. Or when you went to a mueseum instead of the mall.

Sorry, I am also not a teacher. I forgot to clarify that in my previous post.

If the teachers are so unhappy with their jobs, its time they look for new ones, welcome to the real world people. Not every job is going to go the way you want it to all the time. Life goes on,until you die.

Anonymous said...

I doubt they would be unhappy if it weren't for idiots like you.

Get a clue...

Please will every one of you grow up. This is not a great example of teaching your children respect for other people. How are they going to respect teachers and others when they are following in your footsteps. This is over end it now.

Anonymous said...

When certain teachers start showing respect, I will gladly do the same. Thank you very much.

I'd gladly come in and help, but you see I am a SAHM and I am baking those cookies right now so I can eat them and watch Oprah later. Sorry, thats what we stay at home moms do!

You should all be ashamed of yourselves. This is how we want our community represented? I have just read through all of these comments. Aside from the rational ones--and there weren't many--all we see here is that we have a lot of people who can't spell, have poor social skills, and set bad examples for our children.
I, personally, feel dumber now having read all your comments.

Thanks, Dr. Stock, for making the call you needed to make. If the Powerball numbers are made available to you--in the same way a lot of these people think the weather comes to you--PLEASE let me know! :-)

I have a question. Is it possible that we could have a delay or cancleation due to the wind chill? I wasn't sure if that was possible or not!

i bet you will make more dumb mistakes couse you are not very good at your job

Wow, I can't believe how ignorant the citizens of the Wawasee community are. Some of your comments are so asinine that I have trouble believing that you passed the eighth grade. People make mistakes and Dr. Stock owned up to it. Don't criticize him for titling a blog entry with an insufficient title, read the entry itself and understand that his intentions are not to put the students in danger and that he was mistaken for not making a correct decision on the school delay. Also, if you are going to criticize someone in an open forum such as a blog, use your real name. Without it your comments are as credible as a kindergarten students' view on campaign finance reform.
