Thank you. This weather is horrible to be going out in.
I think we should start getting back into the school groove on Thursday. Hopefully school gets cancelled tomorrow.

lol wow i think you should just close school for the houle week. ya think? who agrees with me?????

Anonymous said...

If there is school tomorrow, the four of my children will not be attending. Going out in this kind of weather is just ridiculous. And I will not allow my children to be exposed to that kind of environment, where getting sick comes easily just because they want to teach them. CLOSE SCHOOL.

WOW i think that mom is right. CLOSE SCHOOL!!!!!

thank you for telling us ahead of time

I hope this blog isn't like yesterday.!.!.!

Just so those who are already planning on not attending, the snow is suppose to end tonight and temps in the 20's. Why not wait and see instead of predetermining without really knowing!

"Just so those who are already planning on not attending, the snow is suppose to end tonight and temps in the 20's. Why not wait and see instead of predetermining without really knowing!"

Actually the high for tommorow is 15, and it will feel like -1 tommorow when school would be cancelled if that were to happen. And it may well be snowing also.

I agree it is a little early to be calling off school even a delay. Lots of area schools went today. I think they should never close schools if a bus can't make it then the parents should have to take them. That is the way it is in a lot of other states.(please note that in the other states I refer to if the parents call in and can't take the child it is excused)

Anonymous said...

I think if school is canceled then any events ect should be too. I think the school needs to adress this! I thought a child had to attend at least 1/2 day to do the extra stuff. Well with a snow day they did not attend @ all so whats up with that?

Anonymous said...

"Lots of area schools went today"

No, only Warsaw. Did you see the cancelations on tv? There were a lot of cancelations.

Anonymous said...

i know i mean who could say, a lot of schools went today

Anonymous said...

A lot of the schools are once again going to be cancelled for tomorrow. I think that the children should not be attending school tomorrow because the snow is not going to be stopping anytime soon. The temp's are still going to be below 0.

Going to school tomorrow is not a good idea. Once again I think we should all be heading back to school on Thursday.

Thank you.

Going to school looks doubtful, as I look outside there is at least 14 feet of snow out there.

Of course I live underground so my vision is impared and I wear big glasses. Either way we are getting some snow.

Anonymous said...

NO SCHOOL

Hmmm... a two hour delay on Wednesday (tomorrow)... Cool, but I kinda hope school isnt cancelled because I L-O-V-E my summer break!

Blaine I really miss school. I really don't want to stay home with my mom and sister anymore. I live in Syracuse and go to Milford Middle School, and would love to go to school as soon as possible. I have never been one to hate school. Thank you

Blaine

The previous post is from me. I've never done this better. Sorry, don't want to confuse anyone.

Last time I checked...we live in northern Indiana where snow and cold is the norm this time of year. Get tough people. Put on your boots, coat, gloves and a snow hat and go to school. I have only been out of high school for a couple of years and we have gone to school in worse and colder weather than predicted for tomorrow. I also feel that everyone will be able to get out of their houses and get to school with 2 or 3 inches of snow on the ground. Just remember, we don't live in Florida, we live in Indiana.

Anonymous said...

Are we losing focus of reality here? Do you not go to work if it's cold and snowy outside? Or are you parent who thinks that they "will not allow my children to be exposed to that kind of environment, where getting sick comes easily just because they want to teach them." If you worked for me YOU'D BE FIRED. (Yeah, the students go to school because the teachers WANT to teach them, not to get an education!!)

alright chris, listen here. when it snows, its not the same snow everytime, it has a different texture, different consistancy, its all different. this snow is SLICK. aka-DANGEROUS. i dont know what youre trying to pull, maybe we also like our break? maybe we like to play in the snow instead of sittin in a classroom for about 8 hours staring at a brick wall, listening to some person babble on about physics or something. well, your not in school anymore and you dont sound like a concerned parent, so in my words, you have no room in this conversation. take your opinion somewhere else.

woahh getting crazy in here. honestly, lets please come to reason. no school! do it for the kids! haha and this isnt work, its school lol

"If you worked for me YOU'D BE FIRED"

You have 6-10 year olds working for you?

"I have only been out of high school for a couple of years and we have gone to school in worse and colder weather than predicted for tomorrow."

This past week has been the coldest on record. And tommorow if the buses dont run, they dont run. And even if they do, it might be a little slick.

Thank you for this blog Dr.Stock.

Thank you for having this page to inform us.

I do not think that wawasee schools should have a 2 hour delay they should have a cancelation! Once again, the temp. is very cold to cold to be outside, there have been several recks, and it has been snowing alot. Mon. and Tues. were cancled and if tomrrow isn't going to be canceled i am going to be furious! I do not want my 16 year old driving in weather like this it is dangerous! I hope you make the right desicion to close the schools!

Anonymous said...

Dr. Stock -- I guess you were right, if the Colts win you were going to cancel school all week ;)

Anonymous said...

ITS FREEZING OUTSIDE SO CANCEL SCHOOL .

Anonymous said...

To the lady who doesn't want her 16 year old driving in this weather--how about making him ride the bus?

Anonymous said...

Thanks once again for the delay. People toughn up a bit. Its going to be warmer tomorrow than any of the other days and you already know the roads are going to be slick so why don't you be smart and have some common sense and wake up a little earlier and go to school. Yes it would be nice for a cancellation but I think that 3 days in a row is unlikley. But I just got home from work and yes the roads are very slick so PARENTS OR KIDS...BE CAREFUL!!!

Anonymous said...

OMG!!! MICHAEL HALL IS SO RIGHT WHEN HE SAYS THAT WE WILL HAVE A DELAY! ITS LIKE HE CAN PREDICT THE FUTURE!!! YAY MICHAEL HALL!

Anonymous said...

I know! Michael hall is the coolest person i know! he is gona give me a ride to school! i cant wait til he gets on and reads this, he will be laughing!

Yes i am a student..a mature one...i graduate on the 23rd of this month and i attend college..i may be a student but i'm 18 and i think i have the right just as anybody else to talk about the weather. And i did and now people are putting really immature things on the blogs and i can't stand it!

Anonymous said...

cancel it the conditions are to bad and ther excepting more

Anonymous said...

can we have school for a change this week? i need to get out of the house during the day!!! please just do something that will let me out!a lot of people want no school but...we have to make up those days anyway so why not just get out of bed and get it over with.... then we will get to sleep in the rest of the summer! well some of us anyway.....
thanx

Anonymous said...

thanx.... so much for having this blog it is sooo easy to see when something is closed or when we have a delay!!!

Anonymous said...

Ayyy yo Mark Stock, DO WORK SON!

Anonymous said...

On my way home from swim practice tonight the roads were horrible and I was afraid to be driving with the conditions as bad as they were. I was mainly driving on state road 13, so I can only imagine how bad some of the back roads are. If the roads are as bad in the morning as they were tonight then I think school should be canceled.
Another thing to take into consideration is how cold the classrooms are when we do go to school. Even when i'm wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt I will still be sitting in class shivering because I am so cold. With the rooms as cold as they are students can't even concentrate. I would wear a coat to class, but it's against school policy. Something should be done about the temperature in the classrooms. Thanks.

yeah... even though i really don't want school to be cancelled three days in a row, i really think it should. i was driving home from work 20 minutes ago and i slid off the road into a ditch... luckily i got out, but the only reason i did was because i have a truck and someone pulled me out... just letting you know

As I read blog responses, it is obvious that we need to work on English skills. The "blog" lingo is carried into the classroom and appears in writing that students do. I would suggest reading a book or writing in a journal to pass the time. Think "ISTEP" scores!

I make a proposal that I would like to have approved. How about, since there is such heated debate over all this delay/cancel. How about instead of school going August to May/June we go March to November? We wouldn't have to worry about weather! Schools are air conditioned, no slick roads, no snow, no below zero temps. Only an occassional fog delay. All those in favor..."I"

**okay, yes, I'm kidding, but it WOULD solve all this redicuolous stuff! I think most of this stuff is posted by students. The parents complaining have obviousy NEVER stepped foot in the school to volunteer or do an aid position!

OH MY ON THE COACH that still required/DEMANDED practice! OH MY is all I have to say! I thought it WAS school policy that when school is canceled, ALL after school activities are canceled! Wow, don't let that one go!

Hats off to the parents and STUDENTS practically begging for school, hats off to them for complimenting their teachers and "Doc Stock". Hats off to ALL our staff at our schools...from maintenance, bus drivers, cooks all the way to admin! You guys are awesome

Anonymous said...

OMG!!!!!!! to the parent saying they are keeping their kids home. Oh My Gosh, what do you think school is for??? You need to be home schooling! Have you not read anything on the medical part that says actually the cold helps to keep us healthy? It kills germs with it being cold. Just be smart about putting the neccessary clothing on! I have 4 and they WILL be going! Their education is what our future depends on! What is it you want the schools to do if you don't want them to teach? "where getting sick comes easily just because they want to teach them" Wow...I am dumbfounded here. You OBVIOUSLY think the schools are for babysitting! Do you know that a babysitter makes more than a first year teacher (and even some with a few years)? Do you have ANY hopes and dreams for your kids? Do you not want them to succeed? WOW

Hi, i think school should be canceled one more day to cee if it gets warmer. My uncle slid off the road today and as we were going to get food we almost slide off TWICE!!! Not safe for big heavy buses to be tranporting kids.
My dads friend just got pulled out of a ditch!!! Please one more day of cancellation!! PLease make a desicion earlier than normal?!?

Hey I have a novel idea, if you are soo worried about all this stuff, so in an uproar, then my suggestion is GO TO A SCHOOL BOARD MEETING! VOICE YOUR OPINION THERE!!!!! GET YOURBOTTOM OFF YOUR COMPUTER CHAIR, IN A CAR AND GO TO THE NEXT SCHOOL BOARD MEETING. Want something done? Do you all not realize that parents have a very STRONG voice? But it has to be done in the right way. You need to attend school board meetings, you need to make it known your concerns. Get to know a school board member, etc VOICE YOUR OPINION, GO TO A SCHOOL BOARD MEETING!

Anonymous said...

I think the school needs to have a policy against having practice and events @ the school when it is canceled! That is just not right!

Anonymous said...

its easy for people to say toughin up and put ur boots on and go to school, but your probly not going to school, yes lets all strap our children up like the christmas kid and send them into the snowy pit of death, yes it may be indiana but below zero temps all week arnt normal for this weather and every time somone gets ina vehicle with snow and ice on the roads, they take there lifes into the drivers hand, not all the kids tht go to the school drive safly someone will end up getting hurt,,

Anonymous said...

It amazes me at how immature some people can be.

I do believe that school should be canceled tomorrow. The temperatures in the morning will be around zero and that is without factoring in the wind chill. Wether the buses start or not, that is far too cold for anyone to be walking to school let alone waiting on the bus. The buses have trouble getting students to school on time on a perfectly normal day, let alone in below zero temperatures with slick roads. I realize that students will have to make up these days, but I would rather have them go to school when it is safe to do so.

As for the person who made the babysitter comment... wow. You must be one of those "glass is half empty" types. You basically said that people don't want their children to succeed and that they have no hopes for them just because they want school canceled for a day. Trust me, our civilization will not come to an end because we cancel school for the third day in a row.

hey its cold out yea, but the big thing it its starting to snow REALLY bad!!! and its not supposed to stop any time soon. that means slick roads and very unsafe conditions!!! and me and my sister have to drive in from the other side of the lake where no one ever plows. just because 13 is good doesn't mean that the side roads are. so just cancel for crying out loud!!!

Like, oh my goodness! The weather is soo bad! My grandpa just got in a wreck due to weather conditions and lost 3 toes and a kidney..

We should NOT be going to school tomorrow.. do you want us to DIE?!

Anonymous said...

Guess what? It is 7 degrees right now. Tomorrow it is to get up to 15 degrees. In my book that is a heat wave. Makes me want to get out and go to the beach. 15 degrees is great compared to what we have had.

I don't mind the snow. I was out in it shoveling my 85 year old neighbors driveway and sidewalks. It is too cold for the elderly.

So, do something nice for someone else in this weather. They will appreciate it more than you will know.

Anybody else want to go to the beach?

Mike Hall is frieking amazing!
and some people who generally drive to school cant ride the bus because the bus doesnt go by their houses and even if they called the school and said that they needed a ride, there is no guarantee that the office people or whoever was arranging all that stuff would get it right. they've messed up messages before...
and what kind of abbreviation is 'rents?

Anonymous said...

It was fairly obvious on Tuesday that school was going to be cancelled, but it took a long time to make the decision. If it's necessary to cancel Wednesday, please don't wait until so late to publicize it. Early notification helps working parents make childcare arrangements for students staying home.
