Monday Delay

Wawasee Schools will be on a two hour delay for Monday morning.

County road crews are already out ( it is 4:53 AM right now) but it will take them awhile to cover the routes.

There are still many slick areas and 1 to 2 inches of fresh snowfall during the night.

Mark, thank you for keeping us informed! What were the results from the survey of radio and tv stations?

At 6:30 this morning I didn't see Wawasee Community Schools on channel 16 WNDU News. All that channel showed was the Wawasee Christian Academy delay. I'm so thankful for this site!

Hey Dr. Stock,

How about a guaranteed two-hour delay next Monday when the entire area will be up late Sunday night watching our beloved Bears and Colts? :)

I tell you what - I won't guarantee a delay - but, if it snows like mad Sunday night and it looks like a "no-brainer" I will try to call it early even the night before if need be.

Best I can do! :-)

...Unless of course the Colts win then I will cancel school for the week and rename Indiana "Peyton Place."

just to let people know I was sent a Text message at 6:00 A.M. about the delay from WSBT22

I hope you won't have to eat your words and cancel school WHEN the Colts win! You know this will spread like wild fire that if the Colts win school is canceled for the week...

Is there a delay today which is tuesday???

These backroads are horrible just so you know.

Just got a phone call from someone driving this morning. He said the roads are worse this morning than yesterday.

my kids say the delay yesterday was "suck-up points" on account of the bus wreck.....I've heard the roads are really bad also. You never know what this school system will do.

Good job, Stock. Blew this one didn't you!

seems kind of interesting to me......yesterday, Wawasee was the only school with a delay, then today, every surrounding school has a delay.....but no Wawasee. Maybe, when there is a doubt, those in charge should turn on the TV and see what the others are doing.....just a suggestion

Give Dr. Stock a break. I'm sure it is not easy to make these decisions. Perhaps the blowing and drifting was not as bad at 5 a.m. as it was at 7:30 a.m.

He's not calling delays to "suck up" or to punish anyone. I seriously doubt that Monday's delay was because of an accident that happened on Friday that was not weather related.

He'll be the first to say to bus drivers and student drivers to use the time they need to get here. Tardies are normally not counted on days like this.

No, it was VERY bad at 5 am. I have to be at work by 5am and there hadn't been any plows out at that time. This was just a bad non-call.
We always seem to not call delays when every other school around us is delayed or closed. Wawasee needs to find a better way to do this.

The roads were terrible this morning. Bad enough that all of the surrounding schools have now closed for the entire day. I normally support Dr. Stock's decisions but to not have a delay today was the wrong call. I know we can't always make the right decisions to please everyone but I'd rather fall on the cautious side when it comes to the children.

I would like to know what justifies the reason we sent our kids to school today when another school in our same town and school system closed their doors?????? Is it for the government dollar we get for everyday we are in school??? I think our bus drivers lives and students lives are more important than the almighty dollar!!!!!!

So your saying you will possibly make the call on Sunday because of a stupid football game. Let's be real. It's only football.

Grow up people. Its like the idiots on the radio wanting people to call in and let their bosses know the day after the so called big game, no one should have to work.

Oh brother, what idiots!!!!!!!!!

A lot more to life than some football game, now or ever!

Um stupid football game? Get real, this superbowl is a huge deal. You must be a Saints or Patriots fan. A Monday delay would be spectacular for all of us true football fans. Go Colts!

I swear, if there is a delay monday because of the superbowl while this fiasco went on today with the snow....I am really going to be upset

Dr. Stock said, "If it snows like mad on Sunday and it looks like a 'no-brainer,' I will try call it early . . . ."

He did not say anything about calling a delay because of Super Bowl. He's just having a little fun with the Colts and Bears playing in the Super Bowl. He obviously he won't cancel school all next week when the Colts win on Sunday night!

Go Colts!

Dr. Mark Stock shouldn't have even made that kind of a joke. By chance there is a delay Monday, who is to know its because of snow, or the stupid superbowl, its just a game people. School is more important than football anyday!

Anonymous said...

You just want a delay on Monday to help with your hangovers from the Superbowl. Be honest!

Anonymous said...

Everyone just needs to get over themselves. It's a football game, school will not be cancelled for it, it's just for fun. Uh...

Anonymous said...

What the heck? How can anyone be for the Colts when the Bears are playing?

Personally I would love it if we had a power outage all afternoon and evening on Super Bowl Sunday.

Sorry, I feel that is family time, and not just sit around watching grown men make fools of themselves.

I can only pray.

Who said that the Super Bowl is not family time? There is nothing wrong with watching the Super Bowl Sunday night. Its only one time a year that the Super Bowl is on. In case you have been living in a hole....there have been " grown men making fools of them selves" on Sundays for the past 21 weeks and they have been doing it for over 75 years. Should the power be out every Sunday for "family time"?

Go Bears!

Just responding to the moronic comment above, you can have family time while watching the super bowl. Get real.
